Interested > 3892 "Dance PORT Derida" is a year-long training program for contemporary dance.

"Dance PORT Derida" is a year-long training program in contemporary dance. The program is found by Derida Dance Center and is sponsored by the "America for Bulgaria" foundation. For two consecutive years Derida Dance Center is the only place in Sofia which offers dance training on a daily basis and free of charge. After the successful finish of the "Probiotic for the contemporary dance in Bulgaria" - a program for professional contemporary dancers, the team of Derida Dance and the "America for Bulgaria" foundation give an opportunity to beginners with no previous experience, but who show promise, to participate in the "Dance Port Derida" program. During the course of the program participants will be able to acquire a vast movement vocabulary and skills necessary for future development in the field of contemporary dance and physical theater.

The program is divided into two modules:
*Module 1: Educational program for beginners
*Module 2: A training program for professional dancers


-Module 1:
What are the goals of this module?
*To prepare the participants both physically and mentally for the professional hardships in the world of dance
*To enrich the movement vocabulary of the participants without taking away from their artistic individuality.

Who can apply?
Anyone who seeks professional development in the field of contemporary dance can apply for participation in Module 1 of the Dance Port Derida program. No previous experience is required nor is any dance background education necessary. Auditions will be held to sort trough the candidates.

What is the time schedule of the program?
The program will start in February 2012 and will conclude in December 2012.
The program includes over 550 hours of dance classes and will be held from Monday to Friday between 5.00 and 7.00 p.m. Occasional workshops will be held with difference in length and intensity.

What does the program include?
During the course of the program a systematic approach will be used to further develop movement vocabulary and ways of self-expression.
The goal of the different classes is to increase strength, endurance and flexibility.

-Practical part:
*Training in contemporary dance, ballet, yoga, tai chi, break dancing, capoeira and stretching.
*Work with visual surroundings and stage lighting.
*Participation in open presentations in front an audience.
*Composition of movement/choreography.

Theoretical part:
*Ways of approaching movement.
*History of contemporary dance and physical theater.
*Talks with guest choreographers/dancers.
How will the dancers level be evaluated?
During the course of the program 4 presentations will be held presenting the results of the training so far. Participants who preform unsatisfactory will lose their part in the program.

What is to come after Dance PORT Derida?
One of the main goals of the program is for the participants, who have finished successfully, to leave with extensive movement vocabulary, creative individuality and knowledge.
In the final part of the Dance PORT Derida program participants will take part in a performance, produced by Derida Dance company.
Participants who have successfully finished the Dance Port Derida program will be able to take part in future projects scheduled for 2013.

How to apply?
Everyone who wants to apply for the Dance Port Derida has to send a european standard CV to Derida Dance Center's e-mail address - info@derida-dance.com until the 20th of January 2012. Between the 20th and 30th of January three workshops will be held. After that applicants will be selected.

-Module 2

What are the goals of this module?
*To keep the dancers conditioned
*To create contacts with participants of the program and guest choreographers
*To better the physical capabilities of the participants

Who can apply?
Module 2 of the Dance PORT Derida program aims at dancers who have dance education background, as well as artists who have participated in at least 5 contemporary dance projects.

What is the time schedule of the program?
The program will start in February 2012 and will conclude in December 2012. All classes and workshops will be held in the weekdays.

How to Apply?
Everyone who wants to apply for this module has send an application form to Derida Dance Center's e-mail address - info@derida-dance.com. Participants in Module 2 pay an admission fee of 15lv. between the 1st and 10th of the month they want to take part in the program.
